Justin James Wright
I was born in England in 1966, I grew up in the southwest county of Cornwall.
After graduating college, I gained significant experience with construction projects and held management roles in a variety of projects in England.
In 1994 I relocated to South East Asia and was at the helm of several large engineering / construction projects in Hong Kong, Indonesia and the Philippines.
I have been living in the Philippines since 1998, together with my partner, Emely and our daughters, Janine and Jasmine.
Throughout my life I have been passionate about photography. Initially, I focused my attention on capturing images of “street life” in the communities in the vicinity to where I lived and worked. This built a greater passion to capture scenes of people and communities to show “typical life” in the backstreets of a developing country.
I spent much of 2013 photographing the daily lives of people from Isla Pulo, a small impoverished community located on the shores of Manila Bay.
Later in 2013, I exhibited a collection of photographic prints at the Ayala Museum titled “Resilience – The Isla Pulo Community”. The exhibit was opened by the British Ambassador to the Republic of the Philippines, Mr Asif Ahmad, together with representatives from the Ayala Foundation.
After which, upon invitation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) the exhibit was transferred to the bank’s headquarters.
The Philippines is a wonderful country that is rapidly growing, and full of smiling, happy - go - lucky people.
